All the buzz in the forest industry these days seems to revolve around forest certification.  You see, consumers want to know that the products they are using are coming from sustainable forests.  For a forest to be considered sustainable it has to be certified.  This is a a huge deal in the paper and packaging industry.  While we have not seen a noticeable impact locally (upstate South Carolina) on what certification can do for the landowner, we do know it will have an impact in the future and is something to consider when buying recreational property or timberland.  LankThink sheds some light on certification in “Why Does Forestry Certification Matter to a Land Buyer”.
